Dartboard height and distance
Centre of the board 173 cm (5 ft 8 in) above the floor, the oche 237 cm (7 ft 9¼ in) from the board. Measurements from the WDF and PDC rules, the size of every bed on the board, and how to hang one at home so that it is right.
5 ft 8 in. Floor to the centre of the bull — not to the top of the board or the 20.
7 ft 9¼ in, measured level from the face of the board. Soft-tip darts usually use 244 cm (8 ft).
9 ft 7½ in from the centre of the bull to the oche on the floor. If height and diagonal are right, so is the distance.
Diagram
How to hang it
- Mark 173 cm (5 ft 8 in) above the floor on the wall. That is where the centre of the bull goes, not the bracket.
- Hang the board with the black 20 bed exactly at the top.
- Measure 237 cm (7 ft 9¼ in) along the floor from the face of the board. A board is about 4 cm thick, so from the wall that comes to roughly 241 cm.
- Check the diagonal: from the centre of the bull to the oche on the floor it should be 293.4 cm (9 ft 7½ in).
- Mark the oche with tape or a raised strip. Players must not step over it, but may lean over it.
Dartboard dimensions
| Bed | Size |
|---|---|
| Bullseye (50) | 12.7 mm across |
| Outer bull (25) | 31.8 mm across |
| Treble — inner ring | 99–107 mm from centre |
| Double — outer ring | 162–170 mm from centre |
| Width of treble and double | 8 mm |
| Scoring area | 340 mm across |
| Whole board | 451 mm across |
Measured to the outside of the wires. Trebles and doubles are only 8 mm wide — which is why a T20 is worth so much.
Order of the numbers
Clockwise from the 20 at the top. High numbers sit next to low ones, so a miss is punished: the 20 is flanked by 1 and 5.
